On Thursday, August 31st, Atelier Code Noir hosts our third edition of Toko Talks, this time at Toko Dun Yong, focusing on "the desire for belonging - a culinary journey to self-discovery". During this edition, entrepeneur and hospitality professional Danny Lee and chef and cookbook author Emma de Thouars will be joining our founder Lelani Lewis to talk about the role food plays in belonging and identity, and connecting with our heritage.
The Toko isn’t just a place you go to when you can’t find something at the AH. It’s a refuge from homesickness, a place to connect and symbolizes the strength of those marginalised but are rightfully claiming their own space. Lelani speaks to fellow chefs about the significance of toko’s in the Dutch food scene, the overlapping experiences of Diasporic peoples and the need for more diversity in food media.
